Biography

A graduate of Brigham Young University, I hold a teaching certificate and twenty-eight years invested
in the educational field. I came to Academy Del Sol in October 2010 and fell in love with its teaching
philosophies and Directors. Grateful to be a part of the learning environment found in our community
of Firebirds and Roadrunners. My adventure at Academy Del Sol began as a Kindergarten teacher
and through the years teaching opportunities took me to a 2/3/4 combination class at Broadway and
then to our Hope site.

Academy Del Sol provides many growing experiences. With the growth of the school, I too have
grown from teacher to administrator, learning much along the way. It has been rewarding to be a part
of the academic growing years of our students. Each year I marvel at those who have taken the
journey with me. (To include my grandkids as Firebirds and Roadrunners and other students
attending various grades.)

Creating a preschool was often a conversation I had with Mr. Riegert. In July of 2020 we established
La Mariposa Preschool and Kindergarten Prep. Our graduates have become Kindergarten students
at Academy Del Sol, fulfilling a dream. Exploring this avenue as the Director of La Mariposa
Preschool, I have once again learned much in the educational world of Arizona’s children.
My days are balanced between the responsibilities of La Mariposa Director and the Reading
Specialist for Academy Del Sol. I love my involvement with our kids, grades Pre-K to 8 th grade.
It is a pleasure to serve as a Board Member on the School Board of ADS since 2011. Assisting in the
decisions made to improve the education and community of Academy Del Sol has been another step
in my educational journey.

Married in 1978, mother of six children and grandmother of eight. I enjoy physical fitness and a
healthy lifestyle. Who says retirement comes at 65 years of age?
